In this ongoing series I am exploring our perceptions of the Landscape. The geography, geology, flora and fauna of a region. The passage of time and its effects on objects and matter. Our knowledge of these factors along with our own personal attachments all combine to form our understanding and perception of the world we inhabit. These pieces utilize a range of materials related to the subject matter.
Keystone, (fossilized coral reef), driftwood, fossils, limestone, ceramic and painted panels make up the bulk of the media in the Florida based panels. Petrified wood and desert minerals add dimension to the South Western pieces. Through the juxtaposition and layering of these media I am attempting to express how my ever changing understanding shapes my perception and relationship to my surroundings. I would wish that viewing and experiencing this artwork might move others in similar directions.
